In today's world, computers are extremely prevalent, but do you really understand HOW they work? This class explores the basic principles of computer science. This class is dedicated to the study of computers. Students will gain a deep understanding of what a computer is, and what computer science entails! Concepts explored include: What is a Computer? - What do they do? - How are they apart of our world? Navigating a Computer. - How does a compute work? - What is the difference between software and hardware? What is the Internet? How can we use the Internet responsibly? - How is the Internet related to computer science? - How can we use the Internet? - What does Internet safety consist of? All of these topics will be covered in a one time, 55 minute session. The class is meant to be a beginning course for those who are interested in learning more details about computers and computer science. This class would be a great prerequisite course for those who would like to begin programming. All topics covered include age appropriate examples, such as illustrations, and are instructed in a manner that allows younger or beginner students to understand the world of computer science.
